Sourcegraph MCP now includes a dedicated full-suite endpoint, with a curated default endpoint coming March 30.
As of this release, the full Sourcegraph MCP toolset is available at /.api/mcp/all.
Starting with the Sourcegraph release of March 30, 2026, the default MCP endpoint at /.api/mcp will move to a curated set of tools focused on common context gathering.
The new default tool list will be:
read_filelist_fileskeyword_searchnls_searchlist_reposcommit_searchdiff_searchdeepsearch_readNo tools are being removed from Sourcegraph MCP overall. If your workflows need the full toolset (including deepsearch, go_to_definition, find_references, compare_revisions, and get_contributor_repos), use /.api/mcp/all or the legacy-compatible /.api/mcp/v1.
After a month of GA traffic, we've seen teams use Sourcegraph MCP in different ways, from coding agents to assistants like Databot. These workflows need different tool mixes, so the default endpoint is optimized for common context gathering while full capability remains available through explicit endpoints.
