Agentic chat: Smarter, context-aware responses
We’re introducing agentic chat to Cody users—a transformative upgrade that makes Cody smarter and more autonomous.
With agentic chat, Cody proactively gathers, reviews, and refines context from your codebase, shell, and the web to deliver high-quality, context-rich responses. Whether generating accurate unit tests, answering complex questions, or retrieving the latest API docs, agentic chat eliminates the need for manual context input, saving time and ensuring precision.
With agentic chat enabled, Cody gains access to a suite of tools for retrieving and refining context including:
- Code Search: Performs code searches
- Codebase Files: Retrieves the full content from a file in your codebase
- Terminal: Executes terminal commands to gather system or project-specific information
- Web Browser: Searches the web for live context
- OpenCtx: Any OpenCtx providers could be used by the agent
Agentic chat is currently experimental and available to Cody Pro and Cody Enterprise customers on Cody Web and the latest versions of JetBrains and VS Code. Enterprise customers can read our docs for instructions on how to enable agentic chat for their users.
