Announced in January, auto-edit goes beyond traditional autocomplete by analyzing recent edits and suggesting context-aware changes that offers a seamless, non-linear coding experience.

Auto-edit initially launched as experimental for VS Code users, and reception has been positive from devs who find the process of making changes to their codebase compared to traditional autocomplete. Auto-edit now transitions to beta and becomes the default experience for Cody Pro and Enterprise customers using VS Code, replacing autocomplete. Auto-edit will remain opt-in for Cody Free customers.

Cody Pro and Enterprise VS Code users can opt out and switch back to autocomplete via their extension settings, and for Enterprise customers on Sourcegraph 6.0+ using Gateway, admins can opt their organizations out via settings. Please read our docs for more information.
